The Colorado Mountain Club to host 18th Annual Backcountry Bash |

Golden, CO – Colorado's leading mountain conservation, education, and recreation organization--the Colorado Mountain Club (CMC)--will host the 18th annual Backcountry Bash on November 13, 2010 at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado The Bash will raise money and awareness for the CMC's Backcountry Snowsports Initiative program, which advocates for preservation of winter backcountry areas for quiet human-powered use. Last year, more than 200 outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists attended the event, raising over $20,000 for the cause. This year, the Backcountry Bash will feature Colorado's own Chris Davenport, who will screen a special festival cut of his new extreme ski film, "Australis, An Antarctic Ski Odyssey." Davenport is considered one of the world's most accomplished big mountain skiers, boasting many significant first descents around the globe and having descended all 54 of Colorado 14,000-foot peaks in under a year. Following the film, Davenport will be available for a Q&A and book signing for his new book, Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America, released early this November. "I'm honored to be a part of the Bash this year," says Davenport. "The Colorado Mountain Club has played an integral role in the protection, preservation and management of Colorado's precious backcountry, and I'm happy to stand behind their mission. I strongly believe in being a steward of our mountains so my children will have the same opportunities to enjoy them as I have." A tremendous array of sponsors has already committed to making the event a success. Avery Brewing Company continues as the official provider of free beer; Rudi's Organic Bakery will provide complimentary food; and a host of leading outdoor companies will supply an impressive selection of gear, clothing, skis, snowshoes, hut trips and more to the silent and live auctions. Among the list of auction items are: K2 Telemark skis, Tenth Mountain Division Hut stays, men's and women's ski gear from Flylow, a Telluride ski and stay package, and much more. The American Mountaineering Center, home of the CMC, is located at 710 10th St in Golden, Colorado. Tickets are $25 online at cmc.org/bash or $30 at the door.
