On day four, Ullr said let there be barbeque. With three days down at the Backcountry/Outside Gear Test Week, the grill came out. Testers split their time between hot laps off the Hidden Lake chair and basking in the sun while consuming cased meat.

The team worked their tans and the penultimate batch of skis—the skinnier boards—as well as the sea of AT and telemark boots. Next year’s AT designs fill the spectrum from Euro-light to big-mountain heavy and, as tester Teo Campbell points out, “Whether on Denali or hiking to the cafeteria for more gravy fries we all need a walk mode.”
