2013 Backcountry & Outside Snowboard Test

 Photo: Mike Horn March 1, 2012 - Crested Butte, Colo. We’ve got boxes of snowboard gear stacked to the ceiling and a fresh foot of snow on the ground with more in the forecast. Testers are rolling in from East and West by plane, by bus and even on foot as they come together for a week of intensive on-snow gear testing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and in the surrounding backcountry.
Our 30-plus testers will comb through more than 100 snowboards (splits and solids), boots and bindings in the coming days. Of course there will also be copious Colorado-crafted beer, Cheez-Its and Tater Tots for après, and maybe even a Sasquatch sighting or two (it’s been a couple years). All that mixed with some rockin’ Rocky Mountain terrain and a healthy dose of pow and, well, we’re coming up aces.
Check the photo gallery for a glimpse of last year’s snowboard test stoke. It will be a tough one to top, but we’re game to try.
