Glen Plake to Ski and Speak at the 10th Annual Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival

KEENE VALLEY – Glen Plake is skiing into Keene Valley from Chamonix, France to join The Mountaineer’s 10th annual Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival on March 3rd and 4th.

This annual charity event supports the Adirondack Ski Touring Council and the New York Ski Educational Foundation and allows back country ski enthusiasts a chance to demo equipment, take clinics and enjoy an evening with Glen Plake on Saturday night. Glen will be here compliments of Julbo, the premier glacier and fashion sunglass company. Other sponsors who are supporting the event and providing raffle items for Saturday night include Backcountry Magazine, Dynafit, Primaloft, Black Diamond, Voile-USA, Marmot, Madshus, Garmont, Scarpa, Mammut, G3, OR, and adkbcski.com. A ski tour and Intermediate and Advanced backcountry ski clinics are guided by Cloudsplitter Mountain Guides of Keene Valley.

The event’s sponsors will also be providing free demos for on snow testing from 10 to 2:30 on Saturday at North Country School in Lake Placid. Waivers will be required and helmets and leather gloves highly recommended. The rope tow has periodic let downs so be prepared to earn your turns. Glen will be on hand all day. There will be free telemark, skinning and avalanche beacon clinics.

Glen Plake’s presentation begins at 7:30 at Keene Central School in Keene Valley on Saturday night. Admission is $10 at the door, and high-end clothing and gear will be raffled off as well.
