Binding Buzz: Innovation in 2011?

Print E-mail

Typically, we don't receive press releases plugging products for the following season until around Christmas. But over the last three days, we've received three announcements from three manufacturers, each about bindings.

With the expiration of Dynafit's exclusive patent, La Sportiva—maker of climbing shoes and mountaineering boots—will enter the low-tech binding market with their ultralight RT this December. MFD, an upstart company from Utah, is releasing a mysterious contraption to enable touring with alpine bindings. And Marker Volkl will exhibit at the Outdoor Retailer tradeshow in January—a show that's usually not on the alpine-manufacturer circuit—where they plan to drop a handful of new products.
