6th Annual DOJoe Memorial Uphill/Downhill Freeheel Event
Dear Friends,
On March 3. 2007 the 6th Annual DOJoe Memorial Uphill/Downhill
Freeheel Event will be held at Eldora Mountain Resort. The DOJoe
Memorial is dedicated to local skier, tree trimmer, artist and friend
Joe Despres. In the winter of 2001-2002 Joe died in an avalanche
while skiing the backcountry near Eldora. All proceeds from the event
are donated to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).
New this year we are inviting AT skiers and snowboarders to compete
in the DOJoe. We are also in the process of obtaining 501 c 3 status
for the DOJoe event. DOJoe participants are encouraged to dress up in
costume for the race. To complete the course racers climb up 700
vertical feet, transition out of their skins at the top of of the
Corona lift then ski/ride down the double black diamond run, Westridge
to the finish. Prizes are given to best costume, fastest female,
fastest male, and tag team categories. The awards ceremony will be
held at Eldora Mountain Resort Lodge and will feature a band, beers,
and raffle prizes. Over 250 people participated in the 5th annual
DOJe race and the awards/raffle celebration. The DOJoe is a wonderful
chance to help promote a favorite local event and to support the
backcountry riding community.
We are writing to ask for your sponsorship for the 6th Annual DOJoe
Freeheel Event. Products or cash donations would be greatly
appreciated. There is no cash or in-kind minimum donation for samples
and race day bag give aways. We are asking for a $100 minimum cash
or in-kind donation if you would like your logo to be featured on our
posters, flyer, website and other promotional items. There will be a
race finish area with banner space available (an additional $100 cash
or donation value for each banner space). We are also offering donors
the opportunity to sponsor the band. Cash donations should be made in
check or money order, payable to Jessica Moon Bernstein, race
director. (Once we have established the 501 c 3 Dojoe Fund checks
will be made out to the DOJoe fund and we will alert you to when that
change has been made).
We will need to receive your logo before January 5, 2007 if you decide
to support the DOJoe so that it can be placed on our annual poster
that is displayed throughout Colorado.
We hope to receive your contribution to celebrate the life of Joe
Despres, to embrace the sport he greatly loved and to raise avalanche
